Ciao! I'm Javi. (HA-vee) or Jay.
I'm an artist born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico, where my love for art began early. Driven by a passion for visual storytelling, I moved to the U.S. to pursue a degree in graphic design at Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida. This experience gave me a strong foundation in design principles, shaping how I approach creativity and problem-solving.
My early career was rooted in branding, where I worked with small businesses to craft visual identities. However, as time passed, I craved a deeper, more personal form of artistic expression. While working in corporate web design, I experienced creative burnout, feeling disconnected from the artistic passion that first led me to design. That exhaustion pushed me to rediscover illustration and painting—an artistic shift that has reignited my creative spirit and given me a renewed sense of purpose.
I’m especially drawn to capturing architectural structures and the intricate details of food. I use these subjects to explore storytelling through form, texture, and color. This transition has allowed me to move beyond commercial design's constraints and fully embrace art's fluid, expressive nature.
As I enter 2025, I see this as a pivotal year—one in which I dedicate myself to growing as an artist and illustrator. My focus is no longer on branding or web design but refining my craft, pushing creative boundaries, and bringing more depth and authenticity to my work.
Thank you for visiting my website—I hope you’ll join me on this evolving artistic journey!
